Hendricks County Communications Center
Every Second, Every Day, We Are Here For You

In 2010, the Center received 227,832 emergency and non-emergency calls. Of those, police departments in the county responded to 139,700 runs and fire departments responded to 12,061 for a total of 151,761 total runs; that is an average of 416 per day or over 17 per hour. There was an 8.5 percent decrease from 2009 for total runs as police runs were at a 4.8 percent decrease from 2009.

The dispatchers handling the emergency calls and dispatching the emergency response services are well trained, qualified and dedicated professionals. All Dispatchers are CPR certified, and are certified as Emergency Medical Dispatchers, which qualifies them to provide pre-arrival instructions to the sick and injured. Employees are certified to operate the computer for BMV files and National Crime Information Center wanted files. Mandatory ride-along is included in the ongoing training for the dispatcher. They must ride along with the police officers and fire/EMS.
